I would like to start this article by saying “everybody loves to receive flowers”, but it isn’t true. There are plenty of people who don’t like flowers and who would certainly not like having them delivered to their door.
If the person you would like to send flowers to is not of those people, and you don’t want to leave the house to order flowers for them, here are two simple ways for you to order flowers without stepping outside.
And remember, it doesn’t have to be a special occasion – you can order flowers any time of the year and for any reason you want. To say thank you, to show someone you care or just to put the smile back on the face of someone who is having a tough time.
Order flowers by telephone
Flowers are not the kind of thing people pop into town to order. People don’t really go shopping for flowers, they tend to order them over the telephone (and in more recent times, online).
If you look in your local telephone directory under the heading ‘Florists’ or ‘Floristry’ you should find a number of shops within your area. If you live in a densely populated area you will have a wider choice than someone who lives in the country.
One thing you should remember when ordering flowers by telephone is to choose a florist close the recipient. Don’t order flowers from your local florist (unless they’re part of a chain and can arrange national or international delivery through their network), if the person you’re sending flowers to lives on the opposite side of the country.
To find a florist close to the person to whom you are sending flowers, use the internet for research or call one of the telephone directory services. Personally, I prefer the former.
When ringing the florist to place and order he/she will ask you several questions. These relate to your budget, the types of flowers you’d like and some information about the recipient:
- What is your budget? How much would you like to spend?
- Do you have any particular flowers in mind? Roses, tulips, lilies or orchids.
- Do you have a colour scheme in mind? Pink and white, red and yellow.
- What type of display you would like?
- The message you would like on the delivery card.
- The date and time you would like the flowers delivered, and, of course, the delivery address.
If you are not sure about which type of flowers you would like to send or the type of display you would like (or anything else for that matter), be sure to ask the florist for advice. They are always happy to help.
Order flowers online
With the advent of the internet it’s never been easier to order flowers without leaving the house. All you have to do is go online and use a search engine like Google to find a florist. It’s worth stating again that, if you are ordering flowers for someone who lives miles away from you and your local florist is not part of a national (or international) network, you should place the order with a florist close to the recipient.
The most simple search phrase to enter to find a local florist is this – florist liverpool (change the place to the one specific to you). You should get lots of results. If that doesn’t work you could try – flower delivery liverpool, send flowers liverpool.
Once you have your results it’s time to start looking through them to see what’s on offer. Probably the best thing about ordering flowers online is that you get a good idea of how the bouquet is going to look as most florists’ websites carry a picture of each product.
Florists’ websites are usually fairly easy to navigate and they often split their products and services into sections. You can browse all products in a particular price range, all products that use a certain flower, or you can browse by occasion (birthday, anniversary). Because of this ease of use and “see before you buy” approach, buying flowers online has become very popular.
When ordering flowers online the process goes something like this:
- Navigate through the site and choose the flowers you would like to order.
- When you’ve decided, hit the “buy now” (or equivalent) button and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Choose the card you would like to send with the flowers and enter your special message.
- Provide the delivery address and your details (some websites need you to register/create an account).
- Make your payment – usually by credit card or sometimes PayPal
- When your order is complete you should receive a reference number and sometimes a confirmation email. Make a note of the number or keep the email in case of problems.
Two simple ways to buy flowers without leaving the house, being snowed-in is no longer an excuse for not sending flowers to that special someone in your life!
